In agriculture, the problem related to animal dejections spreading has to be considered as especially important in the area of Timisoara. While decomposing, this type of waste generates gases and substances, which could be a source of pollution with significant impact on the environment and especially on the soil.

In order to prevent the negative impact upon soil quality and underground waters, monitoring measures for the quality for soils, for the quality of residual waters and underground water should be taken. The different steps will be:
- Geochemical and isotopic tools and approaches,
- Agriculture, fertilisation and water resources protection (nitrates),
- Agriculture, crop protection and water resources protection (pesticides , European Water Directive),
- Groundwater contamination by diffuse pollution (Future Pesticides Directive),
- Groundwater protection and management in the scope of the Water Framework Directive and other directives (IPPC, soils).

A particular attention will be paid to the role of the relationships between groundwater and soil.
