Why a sequel of the twinning with the Regional Environmental Agency?

This project is the sequel of the 2004 Phare project: Implementation and enforcement of the legislation regarding the environnment focussed on the protection of nature in the West Region of Romania and it comes right after the Romania’s accession to the European Union in January 2007.

The European institutionnal twinnings are organized between the institutions of the European countries, based on twinnings agreements definning the work plan.

Therefore, the main aim of this twinning is the consolidation of the capacities of the Regional Environmental Protection Agency (REPA) from Timisoara, the capacities of the Local Environmental Protection Agencies (LEPA) and also of the National Environmetal Guard (NEG) of the region, capacities regarding the implementation and the consolidation of the environmental legislation. In addition, this project will assist the REPA Timisoara to treat the activities of national objective related to soil protection against pollution and to ecological reconstruction of the polluted sites.
